East Tech Company is ranked 47th in Inc. Magazine’s Top 100 Manufacturing Companies in the U.S., according to Inc.com’s 5000 list of the nation’s top privately held companies.
East Tech designs and manufactures high-tech machinery for the automotive and construction industries, as well as nuclear plants and hydro-electric power facilities, according to founder and president Roger Layne.
Inc.’s company profile pointed out that East Tech has grown by 281.4 percent since it was established in 2003, while revenues have increased from $922,017 in 2003 to $3.5 million in 2006. In 2006, business with East Tech’s top two customers doubled, while the company was simultaneously investing in new equipment and increasing personnel. That growth allowed East Tech to expand facility space three times in four years. The 5000 List will appear in the October 2008 issue of Inc.
Earlier this year the U.S. Chamber of Commerce honored East Tech with a Blue Ribbon Small Business Award, and the company was a finalist for a Chattanooga Area Chamber Small Business of the Year Award.
“Inclusion on Inc.’s national list is a tremendous honor for East Tech,” Layne said. “Our focus has always been continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Our employees, loyal customers and vendors are the ones who deserve the credit for our growth and success.”
Layne pointed out that alumni of Inc.’s 5000 class include Bill Gates of Microsoft and Larry Ellison of Oracle. “Looks like we are in good company,” he said.
Layne attended a black-tie dinner for the Inc. 5000 Class in Washington, D.C.
